As I began thinking about starting a brand, I knew I wanted to incorporate my love for print media in some way. Drops would be labelled as volumes and would all include a zine related to the products in the drop—a means for the photos and ideas to live somewhere permanently.
Whether through a guilty conscience or an early sign of hoarding, I have collected all the paper grocery bags over the last few years. A reminder of all the times I forgot to bring a shopping tote. There was never a plan of how I was going to use them again, just a cupboard slowly getting more and more cramped. These bags deserved better than the landfill.
I decided using the grocery bag paper to make the product zine would be the perfect fit. To make it work, I built a jig, steamed and cut the paper, and then printed on it. Each zine turned out a little different, but they were all perfect in their own way.
